Post Primary Leadership

PDST Post School Leadership provides professional learning opportunitites for aspiring and practising school leaders. In our role supporting school leaders in Irish post-primary schools we offer the following programmes:

 Clare Education Centre

Cork Education Centre

Donegal Education Centre

Kilkenny Education Centre

Dublin West Education Centre

Bonnington Hotel, Whitehall

All PDST School Leadership programmes aim to increase both competence and capability.  Through increased confidence school leaders feel empowered to lead in the challenging and complex environment in which they operate.

All our programmes are underpinned by the key dimensions of the leadership role of

  • The Self as Leader
  • Leading the Organisation
  • Leading People
  • Leading Change
  • Leading the Community
  • Leading Teaching and Learning

All PDST Leadership and Planning programmes aim to increase confidence, competence and knowledge among participants thereby enabling school leaders to respond to the challenging and complex environment in which they operate. The PDST Leadership and Planning team envisions an array of programme in which leadership is understood as a collaborative process based upon respect and the valuing of collegiality. Our model aims to build capacity and is divided into four domains:

The PDST Leadership and Planning team wishes you every success in your work and looks forward to meeting many of you on its programmes in the next school year. The pace of change in education is gathering pace and schools are set to become a key focus in the change agenda. In such an environment

“leadership requires a different face and alternative to existing models”
